The 2005 Waveland Chronicles

Saturday, May 28, 2005

As much as we enjoy ballhawking with Moe on the corner, we're always glad to see him leave, which is usually around the 7th inning so he can beat the traffic home. Why would we want to see our beloved ballhawk buddha leave? Because invariably, a home run (or two) always seems to come out after Moe leaves. There could be no action for the first two thirds of the game, Moe gets in his car, waves good-bye, and usually by the time he gets to Ashland, c-r-a-c-k! Someone has blasted one onto the street.

Today was a little different as Moe had to leave right after batting practice, so he couldn't stay for any part of the game. So what happens? Yep - you guessed it. First inning, Derrek Lee launches a line drive over the short fence in left-center and right into Andy's glove. Later on in the game - sixth inning I believe - Aramis Ramirez lifts a towering fly ball that clears the high fence and lands in my glove.

So Andy and I thank you Moe - from the bottom of our gloves - for keeping the tradition going...
